Our Organic Farm

We believe that farming organically, following the year’s natural rhythms, is not only best for the future of our planet, but also better for our wellbeing too.

We don’t believe in a process that can’t support itself without a reliance on chemicals, so over twenty years we have developed an organic one that can. We use crop rotation, active habitat management, and careful timings of cultivations to make sure the whole farm works in harmony, year after year. We are certified by and work closely with the Soil Association.

Soil Matters

Our Organic Farm

For us it all starts with the soil. Soil is a combination of minerals, organic matter, air, water and living organisms all doing their own important undercover jobs!

We farm in a way that regenerates soil health and cares for this natural resource. Our pastures are a mixture of diverse, deep rooting plants to improve soil structure, retain moisture and build carbon.

Our fields are full of white and pink clover which take nitrogen from the air and into the soil for a natural energy boost!

The tiny leaves act like millions of tiny solar panels, removing nitrogen from the atmosphere and storing the energy in the soil where it’s available for other plants.

Not only do healthy soils help combat climate change, they also help reduce the effects of climate change. Well managed soils capture carbon dioxide and store it as soil organic carbon. It is so much more than mud or dirt!

Animal Welfare

Our Organic Farm

Animal welfare is at the heart of everything we do. We are certified by the Soil Association, which has the highest standards for animal welfare of any farming system in the UK.

Our cows are a real part of the family, with their own names and own personalities. Our cows spend as much time as possible outside, roaming, relaxing and dining on certified organic pastures. They never eat genetically modified crops and we will never grow them.

The Birds & The Bees

Our Organic Farm

Did you know organic farms, like ours, are home to up to 50% more wildlife?

That’s because we don’t use damaging chemical pesticides or artificial fertilisers!

Instead, we work regeneratively with nature, to maintain a thriving ecosystem of birds, bees, butterflies and other wild animals such as barn owls and bats. This means rotating pasture and crops around the farm to make it more fertile and naturally keep pests at bay. Just like the old days.
