From coffee cup to gelato tub, our circular packaging system is at work!
It has been designed to reduce the demand for raw materials, to encourage reuse, and to recycle any waste that is generated. Whilst at the same time, we have tried to maintain the convenience and affordability that we have all come to enjoy. We see this as a part of our responsibility to the environment and local
community.
Glass Milk Bottles
Refill any reusable bottle from Scotland's first milk vending machines!
Each year our customers save the use of over 70,000 single-use plastic bottles.
You can purchase one of our reusable glass bottles or bring your own. The refill stations dispense in 1 or 2 litres options.
Reusable Coffee & Milkshake Cups
All of our drinks are served in reusable cups. Here’s why.
2.5 billion paper coffee cups are used and thrown away each year in the UK. Enough to stretch around the world roughly five and a half times!
Why? They are bonded with a plastic liner. Perfect for withstanding hot liquid and structural integrity but a disaster for disposal. Most recycling collections can’t process them. Less than 1 in 400 - just 0.25% - are recycled!
We were told compostable is the answer but it turns out these cups are not as compostable as you might think.
Last year our customers saved over 35,000 takeaway cups going to landfill!
Loan cups
How our reusable cup system works.
If you are visiting the farm, you are welcome to bring your own clean reusable cup and we’ll be happy to make your drink into it. If you don’t have a reusable cup, we will loan you one!
All you need to do is pay a £1 cup deposit, take your drink and bring back the cup. When you return your cup, your deposit will be refunded in full.
If you would like another drink, you can return your cup to us when you’re ordering and we will make it into a fresh loan cup.
Reusable Ice Cream Tubs
Our takeaway gelateria tubs and spoons are now reusable - a first in the UK!
We strive to create moments of happiness and this is now reflected in our packaging. By switching to reusable, we save over 100,000 tubs per year!
We take all of our tubs back, clean them in our brand new commercial wash facility and they are ready for reuse.
Getting sorted
We have a return point to collect and sort all other packaging.
The pretty plates we serve our bakes on are reusable and commercially cleaned before being reused. Our cutlery is stainless steel.
Gelato is a messy business and we inevitably need napkins. These are compostable and collected along with any food waste.
We are always looking for ideas on our packaging. If you have any we would love to hear from you.
Did you know?
Our speciality coffee beans are sourced from expert local roasters Figment Coffee in reusable containers. What’s more we use the spent coffee grounds as compost for our gelato garden.
